A soft and refined sky blue muslin bengali jamdani saree handwoven on muslin with traditional Bengali Jamdani handweaving on Muslin. Sky blue Bengali Muslin Jamdani is the soft refined daytime statement — Muslin is the lightest of all Jamdani fabrics, prized for its breathable comfort and historical legacy as the original Dhaka Muslin tradition.

The body features traditional Bengali Jamdani handweaving on a lightweight Muslin base — Muslin is the historical Jamdani fabric associated with Dhaka, where the tradition originated. UNESCO recognized Jamdani weaving as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013.

About the fabric: Muslin is the original Jamdani fabric — historically associated with Dhaka (now Bangladesh), where ancient Dhaka Muslin was so fine it earned poetic descriptions like 'running water' and 'evening dew.' Modern Bengali Muslin Jamdani preserves this featherlight tradition with handwoven motifs. The fabric feels lightweight, sheer, and exceptionally soft — the sky blue Bengali Muslin Jamdani with traditional handweaving.

About Bengali Jamdani: Jamdani is a centuries-old handweaving tradition of West Bengal (India) and Bangladesh — recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2013. The technique uses a discontinuous extra-weft method where each motif is woven individually into the fabric by hand on traditional pit looms, with no two sarees being exactly identical. Originally woven on pure Dhaka Muslin in Bangladesh — ancient Dhaka Muslin was so fine that historical accounts described it using poetic phrases like 'woven air' and 'running water.' Modern Jamdani extends the tradition to cotton, linen, and silk-blend bases while preserving the handwoven motif technique.

Important note: Muslin Jamdani is naturally lightweight and translucent — characteristic of authentic Bengali Muslin fabric. We recommend wearing a fully lined inner skirt and ensuring the blouse is fully lined.

How to style this saree: Pair it with traditional silver, oxidized, or temple jewelry for a refined Bengali artisan aesthetic, or with gold jewelry for a more formal look. It's an ideal choice for weddings, receptions, daytime ceremonies, festive day events, summer functions. The lightweight drape makes it especially comfortable for warm-weather wear and long ceremonies.

Care instructions

Dry clean recommended for best longevity. Hand-wash in cold water with mild detergent only if necessary — never machine-wash, as the lightweight Jamdani weave can be easily damaged. Store the saree wrapped in soft cotton muslin (not plastic) to allow the fabric to breathe. Iron only on the lowest silk/linen setting with a cloth between the iron and the fabric to protect the handwoven motifs.

About handloom and natural variations

Each saree is handwoven by artisans in India, and small variations are part of what makes them special. The following are characteristics of authentic handloom, not defects, and aren't eligible for return:

  • Slight color variation between your screen and the actual fabric
  • Loose threads or minor zari irregularities
  • Subtle differences in weave or texture between pieces

If you receive a piece with a genuine defect (a tear, missing component, or damage in transit), email us photos at care@kaashcollection.com within 3 days and we'll verify against our quality-check records and make it right.

Refunds

Once we receive and inspect your return, approved refunds are issued to your original payment method within 15 business days. You'll get an email confirmation when it's processed.

Product Information & Disclaimers

Every Kaash piece is handpicked from weavers across India and inspected at our Pleasanton studio before shipping. Here's what to know before ordering — it'll help you choose with confidence.

Sizing

We provide a detailed size chart on every product page. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Always refer to our size chart, not the size of a kurta or saree blouse from another brand. Sizing varies significantly across Indian ethnic wear makers, and a "Large" from one brand may differ from ours by 2–3 inches.
  • For kurtas, the size chart shows the kurta's actual measurements (chest, length, sleeve), not body measurements. To find your size, measure a similar garment you already own and love the fit of, and compare to our chart.
  • We're happy to help you choose. Email care@kaashcollection.com with your chest, height, and the product link, and we'll recommend a size based on the measurements you share.

Color & fabric

Indian handloom is woven by hand, and that's exactly what makes it beautiful. A few characteristics to expect:

  • Color rendering varies by screen. The fabric in person may look slightly different from your phone or laptop display depending on lighting, brightness, and screen calibration. We photograph in natural light to keep things as true as possible.
  • Slight texture and weave variations between pieces are normal in handloom and are part of the artistry — not flaws.
  • Zari (metallic thread) color and finish can vary slightly between batches, especially in Banarasi and Kanjivaram silks.

These natural variations are characteristic of authentic handloom and aren't eligible for return. If you receive a piece with a genuine defect — a tear, missing component, or shipping damage — please email us within 3 days of delivery with photos and we'll make it right.

Tags & authenticity

Every Kaash product ships with our authenticity tags attached. Please keep tags on until you're sure you'll keep the piece. Items returned with tags removed or tampered with aren't eligible for refund, even if defective, as we can't verify the item's origin and condition.

Care & maintenance

Each product page includes care instructions specific to the fabric. As a general rule:

  • Silk sarees and silk-blend kurtas: dry-clean only
  • Cotton, linen, and cotton-silk pieces: gentle hand-wash in cold water; do not wring; air-dry in shade
  • Items with embroidery, sequins, or zari: dry-clean only

Following the care guide will keep your piece beautiful for years.
